I took my phone in because their was a scratch on the screen. I had a screen protector on so that should not have happened considering their was not a scratch on the protector. I originally had a 4 gig iPhone when I got home I plugged in my phone to synch my contacts to notice that they gave me an 8 gig.

when i got mine replaced, I was secretly praying for an upgrade to 16GB...

but nope, it was only 8GB. what a bummer

Mind if I ask what screen protector this was? In my experience, those things (and cases) TRAP particles and end up scratching up the surface even worse.

Sweet deal on the upgrade, though.

You took your phone in because you had a screen protector on the phone and the screen got scratched anyway? But the protector didn't get scratched? So did Houdini scratch the phone? How would this be Apple's fault?

I'm real surprised they gave you a new phone!

I thin Apple is being extremely cautious with iPhone return policies. I brought in an iPhone that had a cracked screen. It was experiencing some other small, minor problems, but none as glaring as a huge crack and splintering cracks in the screen. The guy told me that it wasn't performing the way an iPhone should (they had a sweet diagnostic tool to read all info) and gave me a new one.

I highly doubt Apple would do the same for my MBP if it was performing slower than expected but had a cracked screen.

I only thought apple would replace iPhone if screen protector was officially endorsed by them... its a third party thing..
i somehow find this hard to believe (That its true) coming from a newbie.

Maybe the upcoming 3G iPhone has led management to say 'to hell with it' and have told geniuses to be super lenient so they can get rid of the excess stock by the back door?

i may be a newbie but i have the 4gig box the paperwork that says 4gig iphone replacement and the 8gig iphone.

would this work in australia
say i was to buy a 4g iphone on ebay with somthing wrong with it software, not hardware, as in touch not working or somthing, when the 3g iphone comes out here, i could take in my 4g, but laser the 4 into a 8, because i know the manager of the apple store personally, and they have a lazer that does that and engraves. so maby they might upgrade it for a 3g?

i keep telling you just buy my current one, how hard can it be?

I want to get a replacement for mine too, but I love the screen resloution of this phone and Apple changed the color on the phone like after October. The colors of the UI and icons on my phone looks much better than all my friends who have 1.
