Apple Store Gift Cards - Passbook stacking?

Looked all over but can't find an answer anywhere!

I was given an Apple Store gift card for Christmas, which I've now added to Passbook. If I end up with more cards, will they stack up in passbook, I.e. Will the balance increase on one card or will it show as several separate cards?

I'm planning on using them to save up for something nice, but if I end up with 30+ separate cards in Passbook I'm not sure if the store would accept them. Whereas if the balance stays on a single card it'd be much easier.

In not sure as I haven't received any gift cards lately, but if you get two of them why not try and add them both and see what happens. If they don't combine you have your answer and the store will still take them both.

The gift cards will be together like in a files cabinet row or envelope like form, but separate from each other. You will see the balance from each one and use each one or all of them as you will.
