"I bought product A but I got product B, what should I do?!"

Let's go ask people on THE INTERNET  .

Is this for real?

LOL i have to agree with you there. if its the wrong phone why not go back to the Apple store with the box and receipt to get the unlocked one.

cannot go back to apple store as im not located in Canada and i have this phone is Pakistan

unlock is possible, depending on your baseband. i think people are working on making it work with all existing basebands. google is your friend. (you know what, that's not a good phrase lately. google has been eh to me recently).

OP is talking about factory unlocked. Not software unlocked. Every other country besides the USA offers factory unlocked iPhones.

This way you don't have to worry about the software basement updated.

You're located in Pakistan. Your friend is in Canada. Your friend bought unlocked from Apple and shipped it to you - unless he took a flight just to give it by hand. I fail to understand why you cannot simply send the phone back to your friend in Canada so that he can return it and get a new one and ship it out? If you're worried about shipping costs - well your friend, like most people out there, should have tested the phone first (if possible). Forgive me I'm trying not to be rude here but it is common sense... you get the wrong phone so you send it back for the right one.

This same individual posted on the Apple discussions forum asking same questions? Got similar responses from them.
