Apple today announced that its store at The Forum Shops in the Las Vegas area will be temporarily closed between August 9 and August 31.

Apple's website does not provide a reason for the closure. We do not expect any major changes.

The Forum Shops is a shopping mall inside Caesars Palace, the famous luxury hotel and casino resort located on the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada.

While its store at The Forum Shops is closed, Apple says customers can visit its Fashion Show store, which is located just one mile further north on the Las Vegas Strip.

August 9 is shaping up to be an eventful day for Apple Stores. In addition to Apple The Forum Shops temporarily closing, Apple Bristol in England and Apple Parkland in China will be permanently closing on that day. It is also the same day that Apple Shadyside in Pittsburgh will be opening in a new location on Walnut Street.

It's sort of funny we thought this was great "design".

It's an empty gray box with some wood tables.

It may as well be a nicely decorated storage unit.

They had 2 stores within a mile? Should be a B-school case study on how they came up with that one.

Edit: From several responses, it looks like it's quite common. Perhaps they use this approach to play the landlords against each other.

There are a few instances of that LA, the Grove & Beverly Center stores are about a mile away, but in Glendale there are two Apple stores that are about a 3 minute walk between each.

You could be in one store, and then just cross the street & go into the other one.

Not that unusual in a busy area.

Covent Garden and Regent Street, two of the largest and busiest Apple Stores in the UK, are less than a mile apart. You can walk between them in about 10 minutes.

Not that long ago Apple Forum Shops had black travertine flooring with chunks of real silver in it. It was nice imo for a store to have its own character.

Forum Shops and Town Square are overdue for a video wall.

With the store being closed only for a couple of weeks, don't think much is changing. Maybe some minor repair works are being done.

Isn't Vegas as a whole suffering from a massive downturn in customers currently, due to overpricing the hotels and food and all the casinos stacking the odds...? At least that's what I've been reading and hearing.

Could the downturn have anything to do with it?
Change the channel to a different news outlet, not everything is true on just one station.
