Apple store iPhone display models

Do Apple stores have iPhones with the latest software (9.2.1) on display or are they like network retailers with 9.0 on display?

I'm living 30 miles from an Apple store and was thinking of going to see how the latest software felt on the 6s plus as at release I found it a bit laggy and stuttery, I've read it is better on 9.2.1 and the 9.3 betas, but I just want to try it myself and don't want a wasted journey.

Think it depends on the place. In Belgium always saw them on the latest demo version of course.
