Never ever do you change the facade or period of a historic district in NY never!! Apple will never be able to put that fish tank, glass whatever they call in NYC thats a laugh!! I live walking distance to that area "ladies mile , flatiron district " and the buildings date back to the 1700's !

apple must stay in period or forget it ! just like the Soho store.
 
From how it sounds in the article, the building in question doesn't look anything like what the surrounding buildings look like to begin with. It's not that they don't want it changed, they want someone (ie, Apple) to change it to what they want. This isn't your typical preservation scenario if you ask me...
