I will be buying soon and wondered if your experience was any different buying on-line or from our local Apple store.

Especially, if I have a problem with the new computer, do I have to send it back if I got it on-line or can I take it to the store? Do they treat you different at the store if they know you bought on-line?

No, it doesn't matter...the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store will take care of you no matter where you bought it from. So whatever is more convenient for you. The brick-and-mortar stores won't offer the customized options (unless you order them online right there, which you could do from home anyway). And the online store offers free shipping on most items, so there's really not much difference.
