hey folks,

do apple stores sell opened box items? I just bought an item from the apple store and it's clearly been opened, used and returned. #1) are they allowed to do this? #2) should i return it for a new one?

Yes, they sell open box items - generally for a cheaper price.

The last time I visited the local Apple Store, I was "invited" to the open-box section. I walked out with a new product but the salesperson wanted me to look at some of the open-box stuff for some deals. If you paid for a new product and received used, you can take it back.

Was there anything good in the open-box section?? Or was it just a bunch of junk?

This was probably something they didnt know about from whoever returned it last. Sucks though as now I have to drive over there.

i would never buy an "open box" item. In addition to returns, they are usually computers that were on display but get replaced due to a refresh. Do you know how many people touched that computer? at least over 5000, easily.

but it still comes with the one year warranty...so something goes wrong, it can be replaced-- i would probably clean it REAL good though because of all those grimy hands!
