Apple store phone upgrade

Hello,

Upgraded my phone in an apple store and chose to stick with orange.

Given that I've obtained my device in the apple store does it mean that my device is unlocked? Not that I plan to leave orange until my contract is up!

No your iPhone is not unlocked. It is locked to Orange the same as one you would have bought from your service provider.

Did you pay the subsidized price and renew your contract with Orange? If so, yes, your phone is locked to orange

Is this in the UK? If so Apple don't handle any upgrades or new contracts in store. So I'm guessing you bought the phone outright? If so, yes it should be unlocked!

Nope didn't buy outright! Too expensive! I'm in uk and apple store matched the contract I would have taken up direct with orange. Only thing is I got 10 times better customer service and actually enjoyed my upgrade visit!

Then its locked till your contract expires.
Then you can request an unlock for it from your wireless provider.
