I selected the earliest pickup window available, but it is at 1PM and I'm leaving on a trip around that time, so I won't be able to be there then.

Will the store let me pickup early if I go early and wait in line? Or is that a waste of time and they just tell me to come back at 1PM? Has anyone tried before?

Pretty sure they'll turn you away until your allocated time. They have to run it with military precision as there are so many things being launched.

If you get there early and ask them nicely to squeeze you in if they can and explain your situation they might. If you show up 30 minutes early and say I need it now probably not. I don't imagine things will be too crazy once the store has been open for a few hours and the people in line have been helped.

People will be coming throughout the day... Really depends on the store I guess, there's no way the London stores could accommodate that request for example.

It depends on a lot of things. Mainly the customers ahead of you.

My recommendation would be, go there today, talk with a manager. Explain your situation. Bring proof of your itinerary. Ask to just do a personal pickup at opening.

If you don’t have an official itinerary, plane/train ticket I wouldn’t bother asking.

Keep in mind, the specialists will be balls to the wall dealing with scammers and excited customers alike. This launch is major as it releases new phones and watches on the same day.

My experience has been 1:00 pickup means more like 1:45-2:15. There will be a queue of 1:00 pickups and if you are third in that line and a 12:45 pickup shows up, they get moved ahead of you.

With that said, Apple is great at customer service. If you have flight info or other printed itinerary to show, they may try to move you up, but it really depends on the Apple Store greeter.

Good luck.

Definitely depends on the store.

We have 3 Apple Stores within a 10 mile radius here and one is completely ambushed and slammed almost every single day let alone launch day. One is in a smaller, empty mall and even on launch day its relatively quiet and they would accommodate.

That is my go to one for launch days and in store pick up.

I did this last year. with the X I had a 5-5:30pm pickup last year, but was able to pickup that morning. I had planned to pickup the X after work, but my morning opened up and I figured I'd give it a try and return later if they said no. As suggest above, I politely explained my situation, confirmed that I had a reservation, and they said they'd try to accommodate me. I backed up enough where they and I could still keep eye contact, but not enough that I was blocking any traffic. After maybe 20-25 minutes, they signaled me over (I'm assuming because the reservation line dropped a bit), and let me in.

It won't hurt to try. Just be polite, explain your situation, and cross your fingers. Good luck.

Hmm, I might just give it a shot. I just wish they weren't launching phones and watches on the same day, would have made it a lot less congested.
