I know there are 14 million threads asking if an iPhone was going to be saved for you if you pre-ordered. Just got an email from Apple confirming this.

Just a reminder that you can purchase your reserved iPhone anytime tomorrow during business hours at the store listed below.* Look for a Concierge in an orange shirt when you arrive. We'll help you complete your purchase, set up your phone, and get off to a great start.

Hopefully this helps someone!

I don't think anyone can answer this, but I reserved one a while ago, but since they are now giving me a full upgrade, I want to buy a 32GB. I guess I can do that, right?

Best I can tell, the reservation doesn't mean anything in regards to what you order or that one will be waiting for you. I think Apple is confident they will have enough stock, but I'll be surprised if no Apple stores sell out.

I actually just got that email too. I guess I have one "reserved" when I was poking around the online system after the keynote. At the bottom in tiny text:

*Your reservation is valid until close of business on Friday, June 19, 2009. Reservation does not guarantee iPhone availability at an Apple Retail Store. iPhone is sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

An aquaintance who is a Personal Shopper Specialist (or some mumbo jumbo like that :p) told me that it reserves a phone for you. Actually...perhaps it was one of the other personal shoppers....but somebody said that to me yesterday. He also mentioned that it means your account w/ AT&T is all "in-order" whatever that means.

I just went into the Apple Store and asked if the reservation really meant everything, and the associate went on the computer and showed my name as a reservation for tomorrow. So I guess if anyone feels like asking to see, try it out.

this depends on your store. I did the same thing, reserved a 16 but now want a 32 gig. The genius at my store said I have to get in the "non reserved" line instead of the "reserved" line to see if they have any left...which he said they will...so well see

Ok.....here's the real deal...

There are reservations and pre-authorizations. Reservations have phones set aside. When allotted reservations ran out they started doing pre-authorizations (which don't have guaranteed phones.). The store I'm at is running both lines at the same time starting right now. :)
