So I’ve been having a weird graphics problem when trying to watch low quality videos on YouTube on a 2017 MacBook Pro 15”. Took it to apple they are saying it’s a QuickTime issue that high sierra has that can’t be fixed without downgrading to Sierra however I have two of the same computer and the other one doesn’t have this low quality video issue. Apple store says the computer that is glitching when trying to run low quality videos probably has a “too good” graphics card and as a result it can’t process low quality videos and I just feel like that is a load of bologna? I asked if they could replace the graphics card and they said that would require replacing the logic board which is not an issue so the only solution they can offer is to downgrade it. I asked why with two of the same computer running the same OS why one doesn’t have this issue and they said it isn’t present in every computer but I guess I would think if it’s a specific software related, non hardware related problem as they say, then each computer with the same OS should have the same issue?

Cool. Reminds me of some experiences I’ve had with Best Buy, Circuit City, and Radio Shack employees back in the day.

Anyway, same browser and version on both systems? Is Flash involved anywhere on any of them? Tried starting in safe mode? Tried creating a new user and logging is as that one and then watching YouTube? Etc. Check everything from a software perspective on both systems and compare the results. If they are both identical, then it’s probably a hardware problem, although I can’t imagine what it would be.

“Too good” video card /smh

“Dude, ur puter is 2 gud”

As far as I know the computers are almost identical with what is installed. I'm just trying to watch youtube videos when the issue presents itself which doesn't use flash as far as I know. I'm going to take my other computer when I pick up my computer and ask a genius to walk through how one computer could operate so differently when they're so similar.

So this is fun, the computer is now dented on the top (small little divet but still that wasn't there when I dropped it off), and scratched on the bottom. Again it is a tiny scratch but the computer basically never moved in my house so I am pretty confident I didn't do it and it wasn't there when I dropped it off. Plus it is right near where the screw is for the bottom cover so I'm pretty sure someone was just careless when removing or replacing the bottom cover...
