Don't know if this is news to anyone, but it was news to me. Fully expected it to be having to cross vast oceans to get here, but speaking with Apple this morning (trying to find out where it is as the tracking number seems invalid!) they told me it's only shipping from Ireland.

I hope that Apple also sends Pros to Finland from Ireland so that I don´t have to wait many weeks for it to come thousands of miles. :(

I was at the apple store in London and the very helpful sale guy said the mac pro would be shipped from Ireland, Cork.

I wasn’t to sure if I was able to place an order for a custom configuration at the store as I wanted to upgrade the processor, but they gave me a written quote for my business.

like virtually all of apple's products, i think they are originally made in China and then sent to Ireland, which i think is their main hub for the area. My old G5 was shipped from China to Ireland then to me in Wales.

Most of the stuff I've ordered from Apple in the last few years (iMac, Apple TV, MacBook) have all come from China - ie. I've followed the tracking through Apecode showing the progress from China to Amsterdam to the UK.

Hopefully a bit less tedious following it from Cork!

Off the shelf stuff comes from Cork, but if you want to customise, it comes from china. I don't think non-customised stuff is made in cork, they just receive large batches from china. When it comes from cork, it comes via amsterdam and stanstead, so it must be the distro point for europe

Both Mine and My Brothers Mac Pro's came from Cork, pretty big place out there, they do it all, standard config or fully customised, sorry about picture quality, this all thats available for Cork........

I've bought 2 PowerMacs and 1 Mac Pro (2007) from Apple UK before

they are all CTO and were assembled and shipped from Cork, Republic of Ireland...

hence the serial no. always begin with CK XXXXXXXXXXX

perhaps some of the components were made in China.

so this it is not surprising here at all

Did you not know this ?:confused:

Yeah the mac pro is assembled here in Apples Cork local and despatched from here for most of Europe.

But do you want to know somthing utterly moronic ?

When I got my MacPro I am about 2 hours drive from Apple, but when they shipped it, because of the way their shipping works, they had to send it to the UK before sending it all the way back again .....

That drove me mental :):D

I knew Apple had a presence in Ireland, I just didn't know they actually put anything together there.

Hey were not all lazy drunks here, we do have to earn money to errr.........

pay for drink... :p

I asked an Irish AppleCare guy, and he said that iMacs are shipped in pieces to Cork, and assembled there... this made me feel VERY happy!!

Did not know this at all!
Even more surprised now by the fact that Ireland does not yet have an apple store. cmon apple!
