Apple has announced that its store at Roosevelt Field in Garden City, New York, will reopen on Friday, November 21 at 10 a.m. local time, following renovations.

Roosevelt Field is the largest shopping mall on Long Island. Apple first opened its store there in 2002, just months after the iPod launched. The renovated store will feature a modern design with more wood paneling, instead of stainless steel.

Apple has yet to share photos of the renovated store, so the exact design remains to be seen.

Apple opened a temporary store at Roosevelt Field while it renovated the original store, which has been closed for around a year.

Apple is also renovating its store at The Forum in Carlsbad, California, and it has opened a temporary store there in the meantime, as seen below.

Apple continues to renovate at least three other U.S. stores:Apple's relocated store at University Park Village, in Fort Worth, Texas, opened last month.

Finally, renovations were recently completed at Apple Chatswood Chase, near Sydney, Australia.

I don’t know why Apple seems to rarely update the pictures of their stores (on their website) Apple’s picture for their store on West 14th in NYC still has a giant iPod billboard:

Because it's iconic, that's why 🤷

Not if it’s me but the University Park Village store just looks a bit jarring. Steel elements with so much wooden elements? Why all this wood being used? I didn’t really like it when they started putting wood and trees in their stores. Personally, I like the steel and white and themes they had before. Sure, it looks cold, but that’s Apple! It shouldn’t be warm and woody.

Missing a lot of details. Is it an A, B, or C store in terms of size? Do they have a mitigation plan for the July, 2032 alien invasion?

If you want to know what it will look like, look at other Apple stores that have opened in the past couple of years - eg the Milton Keynes UK store that opened over a year ago.

This wood everywhere is awful, bring back the stainless steel! These stores used to feel like you were walking into an Apple product and now it's like a Cracker Barrel

They have had the wooden tables and wood-covered walls for years...over a decade.

I always prefer wood and nature to steel and industrial, personally... 🤷🏻‍♂️

I worked at West 14th from 2019 to 2024 (Great store and team!) and not only is the billboard way out of date in that photo, but the entire streetscape has been redone. Beyond that, the store is slowly getting upgrades- when left about 18 months ago, a full renovation of the store, which opened in December 2007, was scheduled for sometime next year.

Hopefully, they'll update the website photo too.
