Hi folks,

Can anyone confirm whether the demo iPhones in Apple stores are fully functional, i.e. should you be able to browse over EDGE or only WIFI? Had a quick play with one at lunchtime and turned off the wifi and it did say O2 UK and has the blue square with an E inside it, but browsing or email didn't seem to be working....? Does this sound right?

I suspect they have dummy/partially functional sim cards in them, or you'd get loads of people using them to make calls with....

The ones I saw in CPW were connected to the wi-fi network not the mobile network so you couldn't make phone calls with them.

Alot of the CPW places have the iPhones bolted down to stop them trying to walk away.

I've tried the iPhones out in Apple store regent st.

Managed to make calls, browse and watch you tube on them with wifi OFF.

So from this I presume they are on activated O2 tarrifs

I know it doesn't mean anything for other countries, but for the record I was able to make calls from an iPhone in a U.S. Apple store. Didn't try turning off the wi-fi, though. I assume EDGE would work if the phone did.
