Hi,

there a dark shadows on the left and right lower side of the new Apple Studio Display and

my old iMac 27" Retina (2017) has a subjective brighter display (without any shadows at the edges). But according to the technical specifications the new Studio Display must have an brighter display.

Apple refused to exchange it, because I bought it at a Reseller (Coolblue).

Apple's repair duration for the Studio Display is currently more than 21days and I have no similar fallback monitor. Thank God, I can send it back to the reseller within 30days. But there are no Studio Displays in stock to exchange.

Anyone else with the same Problem?

Any Tip for a semi-professional (Foto- & Video Editing) Monitor (non Apple) in the same price range for using with a Mac Studio?

I learned much today:

1.) Never buy an Apple Product at a Reseller (Same Price, NO Service at Apple)

2.) Never be an early adopter

3.) 1750€ ist way too much Money for that Display. Half the price would be realistic.

4.) Never buy an Apple Display again

My Advise: If you plan to buy the new Apple Studio Display: WAIT! Put your hand's and eye's on it BEFORE you buy it. The webcam-quality is still scrap, even after two updates and the speaker's sound is ok, but not more.

Those dark edges seem to be quite common on IPS panels though they are more common on the cheaper ones.
Two weeks ago i bought a Dell P2723QE (~500€) that i had to return due to dark edges andloss of lumination towards the sides of the panel.
On Friday i received an Dell U2723QE that has less problems with dark edges (though they are visible) but therefore has a visible backlight bleeding spot on the lower left corner.
Buying an IPS monitor is some kind of lottery.
It is interesting, that you bought from coolblue. They had some of the standard ASDs in offer last week (wednesday?) and i hesitated to order one but then missed the offer and ordered the Dell (also from reseller).
I live in Germany and so far have not yet any experience with this reseller.
