Hello,

When I switch apps or enter/exit full screen video on YouTube my Apple Studio Display occasionally flickers. It happens only when Apple Display P3-600 nits profile is selected. All other profiles don’t exhibit such behavior. I tried switching off True Tone and Auto brightness, but it didn’t help. Do you think it’s a malfunction? Please see the video attached for more info. I use it with Mac Studio M1 Max.

have you re-seated the cable? on both ends?

Never needed to do this with my studio display, but you may have already tried to see if it helps:

There may be other ways to reset the display, and if it doesn't help then at least you tried.

I have the same issue. Assume you are the same person who posted about it on the Apple support forum. Have replied to that thread. Doesn't occur in P3-D65 mode at all, only P3-600.

I think it's a software bug in the Studio Display personally. Mine has firmware 67.1. Can you check to see if yours is the same? It's in System Information under Hardware -> Thunderbolt/USB4 -> select Studio Display.

Have reported it to Apple. Hopefully they will fix it. Think it's software related.

It’s very slight. It’s not very noticeable in the video.
You might want to slow down the playback. I noticed a slight change in the lighting as he transitioned from the League of Legends or Steam Deck game to the main desktop. 🖥️

OP, has the screen been damaged at all? Did this occur after a software update, or did it happen suddenly?
Double-check to ensure that the Thunderbolt cable and power supply are properly plugged in, as well as the voltage of the power source you’re using.

Mine started doing this with Tahoe. I don't remember seeing these flickers in Sonoma. Currently running 67.1 firmware with my M1 Pro.

It's almost like flickers with Freesync enabled display that if content framerate goes under 45hz.

But this Studio Display doesn't have variable refresh framerate to begin with... did Apple bugged it accident enabled for unsupported display?

This occurs if I have 3D rendering windows opened like my CAD software Shapr3D or Fusion 360 and Bambu Studio. Switch between windows to Safari with YouTube contents.

My studio display does this, noticed it when I switch between Citrix workspace for work and back to mac desktop. I just upgraded from an mx master 3 to 4 and use the dongle, and was wondering if this had something to do with, but it seems not if others are experiencing it too.

It may be worth us trying Tahoe 26.1 dev beta to see if this fixes it?

Think we should get a release tomorrow for that. Hoping it will go away then. If it doesn't I'm going to be pissed.w

Finally an Apple problem topic I can join.
I have this slight flicker as well, is also set at P3-600 nits.

Lets see if the update will fix it :)

So far so good. When I rebooted after the update it didn't come back up with true tone enabled despite being toggled on. I dropped the colour profile back to P3-65 and then back to P3-600 with true tone on and I haven't noticed any flickering yet despite doing what usually triggers it.

Will report back tomorrow if all is good or not.
