Unless Ive missed something, this is the first ive heard that Apple are officialy supporting BluRay over HD-DVD
BBC News Link

Backers of Sony's Blu-ray discs include Samsung, Dell and Apple, while NEC, Sanyo and others have been pushing Toshiba's HD DVD.

Or is this just a loose interpretation of something apple have said in the past

This is likely related to the fact that they joined the Blu-Ray Association's board of directors more than two years ago. It may also be related to the fact that Disney, too, supports Blu-Ray. A loose, and quite derived fascination with the media is that Disney and Apple are somehow strongly related due to the fact that Steve Jobs is a "part" of both.

Apple has not yet officially stated their plans of support for either media in Mac OS X. But rumors/speculation has been that they'll be supporting both.

thanks for clearing that up. I clearly had missed something. But there was no need to be quite so sarcastic. I wasn't aware that Apple had signed up since I'd never heard of such an Association, but the whole Disney/Apple thing i completely overlooked.
I think once one of the big PC manufacturers takes the plunge and starts shipping one format instead of the other in the mainstream, the whole industry will follow suit.

And the fact Disney were the first partners for iTunes movie downloads and if any Apple :)apple:tv, MacBook, iPod, iPhone) product is pictured playing a movie it is always a Disney one (Pirates of the Caribbean, Cars etc.).
