Merry Christmas to all you apple fans.

I've decided to purchase a apple system, but rumors about price reduction in January makes me doubt if I should wait.

I'm purchasing with a student hardware discount. From Denmark (if that has any influence).

The system I had in mind was:

Time Capsule - 1TB
Apple wireless Mighty Mouse
Incase Nylon Messenger Bag for Macbook Pro 15"
MacBook Pro, 15", Aluminium (upgraded version)

So what do you think? Should I wait?

Thanks,
Jonas

I doubt anything new will happen to the Macbook Pro since they were just updated in October. I would just go ahead and purchase it.

Now, if you were wanting an iMac or a Mac Mini, then I would tell you to wait.

Thank you for your opinion, themoonisdown09. That's also my feeling.

Anyone against? Or for? :)

Where did you hear about price cuts? Like the above poster, I don't see price cuts/updates coming to the MBP, they were just updated. The time capsule, maybe?

I'm in a similar position but looking to buy a Mac Pro, however the rumors are that the price is increasing when they're updated.

However, I do think it's quite unlikely that the MBP will be refreshed anytime soon...maybe March/April? So if you need one before then, buy the current one.

I'm holding off on my purchase because the Mac Pro is an almost 1 year old machine with 1 year old hardware for the same price as it cost 1 year ago and I just can't justify paying that kinda money for year old stuff.

Maybe I'm just not that well informed here. But wasn't the Mackbook Pro updated for just a short time ago?

Duff-Man says.....if you want more opinions, try reading a few of the other threads that have been started in the last week or so - a couple in this forum and a couple in the Macbook Pro forum...this topic has been covered thoroughly already....oh yeah!

I'm also considering the MBP but I will wait and see what the MacWorld brings if anything. Have you considered an AirPot Extreme + external hardrive over Time Capsule? I might choose that one as then the hard drive is easier to change if it fails. And forget about the Mighty Mouse, it is the worst Apple product ever. It eats batteries like there was no tommorrow and the ball on top gets stuck all the time. Buy Logitech or even Microsoft instead.

I would agree, the wireless mighty mouse sucks. Go with something like a Logitech MX Revolution

I would very much doubt the specs would change in January - in fact, I would bet on it.

What CAN happen is that the price may come down (a few bucks, thats Apple for you) and the rumors of a new Mighty Mouse.

Apart from that - no changes to the MBP.

Thank you guys. I will definitely not buy the Mighty Mouse then. It's actually kinda expensive, isn't it? (For the critique it takes, I mean).

I use the Mighty Mouse and love it. I do have to clean the scroll ball every couple of months, but it takes all of 10 seconds to do that. It's all about personal preference with the Mighty Mouse.

I strongly doubt anything will change to the laptop market, it has only been 2months since they were released. I think only the desktops will be upgraded and possibly the mac mini will be a bit different, but if you are anxious just wait :)

There are rumors about the Mighty Mouse being redesigned, but all the other things will remain unchanged for awhile, especially the MBP.

I would definitely get AppleCare too.
Then, the MacBook Pro, Time Capsule, and Mighty Mouse will be under AppleCare, so if anything happens to the Mouse, you can get it replaced quickly.
