How many with a apple thunderbolt display have picked up a pair of external speakers? How many think external speakers are a needed for the thunderbolt display? I got a pair of B&W MM1.

i bought a pair of audioengine 2s for $200 to go w/ my TB displays, they make great desk speakers imo.... fill my small office w/ sound

I use the internal speakers as I think they sound a bit nicer than the ones in my 27" iMac. But then, I mostly listen to TV and podcasts, so sound quality is not high on my criteria. :)

I find the internal speakers are fine for my purposes. I'm not using my MBP as a multimedia machine, if I was I may change my mind.

Personally, I think they're fine "apartment speakers". For normal volume media consumption, they sound just fine. If you live in a house or a place where you can really pump up the jam, external speakers will be more fun :)

They work fine, though.

i am trying to justify $500 for 2 speakers. i do not want a 5 speaker set, too much clutter for me. i have considered a wireless speaker option or sanos. I do have a nice whole house stereo system.

I was about to buy external speakers to go with my TBD but after testing in the store I decided to go with the internal speakers. :)
