Apple is set to open its first retail store in Malaysia on June 22, marking a significant expansion of its physical retail presence in south-east Asia. The new store will be located in Kuala Lumpur at The Exchange TRX mall.

The store features a unique, tiered white pyramid architectural design. This will be the sixth Apple Store in south-east Asia, following three in Singapore and two in Thailand.

Apple now has a webpage for the store and shared a number of wallpapers for the iPhone, iPad, and Mac to celebrate its opening, incorporating the Apple logo and the word "Jom," which means "let's go" or "come on" in Malay.

While Apple does not manufacture iPhones in Malaysia, it does produce some Mac models in the country. Apple's decision to establish a retail store in Malaysia is part of its strategy to expand its retail footprint in key Asian markets, where it faces fierce competition from local tech companies.

Apple The Exchange TRX will officially open its doors for the first time at 10 a.m. local time on June 22.

So Philippines is out of the question since the so-called local phones are rebranded from Chinese brands...

They should revoke the authority of the Apple authorized reseller and replace them with official Apple stores... One can dream...

Apple has previously been compared to a religion, with devote followers visiting grand buildings to worship at the altars of artefacts. Nice to see they are really leaning into the temple aesthetic.

They should probably put another store somewhere in Penang and perhaps, in the city of Kuching, to cover more of the population. I'm guessing that any Apple-related manufacturing/assembly is occurring in Butterworth, Penang.

Good for customers from Malaysia. Looking forward to seeing photos from the store.

Considering the number of iPhone users in South East Asia, it would make sense to continue to expand their presence there.

Not a chance, except if and when those authorised Apple resellers (Power Mac, BTB, among others) get out of business.

That doesn't need to happen; official Apple Stores and authorized resellers can co-exist, just like they do in the US, which is Apple’s biggest market.
