Apple tv 1 picture problems

I just got an Apple tv gen1 and hooked it up through DVI to tv. I reset apple tv to original settings and updated software. I started watching it and after about 4 min picture went sound ok it is like it went to sleep. If I reset everything looks ok for a few min then picture goes and will not come back.
