Apple TV 11.2 update made everything look terrible

I have the apple tv 4k and a Hisense 50H7D. It had been working pretty well until last night when I ran the tv02 11.2 update. After the update completed, I noticed that the colors on the home screen were very off. The hulu icon appeared light blue instead of green. It appeared that the brightness had been cranked up.

Whats weird is that when the screensaver kicks in, it stays bright for about a second and then it kicks in and the screen saver looks perfect.

I went into my tvs picture settings and the values had not changed, but if i cranked down the brightness by about 20 it looked better.

I know that there are new settings in 11.2 to allow you to match the video to the content and i tried setting these settings on and off and it didn't make any difference.

everything looked perfect before running the update. what changed in 11.2 that would have made everything look so awful?

it is set to 4k HDR at 60 FPS

and I have tried setting the new match content settings to both on and off.

whats interesting si that If I set it to 4K SDR it looks fine.

This is your problem then isn’t it? Set it to SDR and then let it switch to match the content

just a guess, but maybe a 4:2:2 / 4:2:0 problem

from what i've seen the port on the TV has to be enabled to receive the :2
it can mess things up if the aTV is sending, and the TV isn't expecting.
 
Latest update messed up HDR on my Hisense H8C as well. I wish there was some way to downgrade the firmware on these 4K models, as HDR was working fine with 11.0 and 11.1.

This is while using the correct HDMI 2.0 ports, enhanced HDMI turned on in the TV settings, and with both 4:2:0 and 4:2:2. The latter actually exhibits ugly banding in HDR mode.

If I wanted to watch Netflix and Amazon in SDR, I could've just stuck to the built-in apps and saved $179
 
Any Hisense owners know of any solution for fixing the now-broken HDR after updating to 11.2?
