So I've moved house & lost my Apple TV remote in the process. Trying to solve the problem...

- Have tried 'Remote' for iPhone, but it wouldn't pick up the Apple TV, but then later found out searching you can only use this with 4th gen TV. Is that right?

- Can I replace with a newer remote (the black rather than the silver one I've lost) but will this be compatible with the Apple TV.

Not sure what to do. Recommendations from those who know more about this than me? Thanks!

The Siri Remote (new black remote) isn't compatible with older Apple TVs. However, you can pick up a new Apple Remote (the old silver one) through Apple's website, under the Apple TV Accessories tab. You should be able to pair the remote with the Apple TV with no issues.
