So after playing with the new Apple 2021 TV for few days.. it has to go back..

Biggest issue still remains developer support for apps... If all apps were forced to support content match, Frame Match would be great.

stutter is a real issue let me explain.

Apple TV 4K 60hz SDR with Frame Match On and Content Match on a LG55UJ651V (TV Settings correct with Truemotion on "Clear" and all recommended settings for apple tv)

Netflix, Disney Plus, Prime, Apple TV App work lovely ! as they content match and look great.

Youtube with any content at 24FPS, 30FPS, 60FPS looks amazing in 4k..

Issues begin...

40d, Channel 5, ITV Apps, all use 25FPS and all Stutter no matter what setting on TV is used as no support for content match.

Any YouTube content in 25FPS, 50FPS... Frame Stutter.. as mis match in frame rates... (Changing TV truemotion to off does not resolve this)

only way to resolve is to Enable apple settings "Apple TV 4K 50hz SDR with Frame Match On and Content Match"

So Now with the TV in "Apple TV 4K 50hz SDR with Frame Match On and Content Match"

you straight away notice the Apple TV is not as smooth which of course it won't be as only at 50hz.

40d, Channel 5, ITV Apps all work fine and display and playback as they should great !

Netflix, Disney Plus, Prime, Apple TV App work lovely ! as they content match again and look great.

Youtube, any content in 25fps or 50fps look and work great, but now the issues... Any content in 60fps, 30fps looks decent but notice its not as smooth as should be as of course it won't be at 50hz... but any content uploaded in 24fps is un watchable....

So basically you end up having to change Apple TV settings depending on what content your watching of have to accept sometimes won't work perfectly... big shame and yes I have go through all guides on setting TV up and so on.

So I am back using WebOS on the LG TV which all the apps work fine and have no issues as the TV just works as should with the apps... just little slow at loading them these days but when playing the content always works.. and of course YouTube at any frame rate just works and looks correct even HDR.

just wanted to write this for anyone looking to use Apple TV in the uk and like me enjoys watching alot YouTube.

there is an update out today 14.6 might want to try that and see if it changes anything.

also...
Occasionally in the match content screen I've seen "unverified formats", and have seen 50hz items there (I'm in the US), in fact I think that's all I've seen there. The description for the different formats said "once verified, appleTV can use this format automatically"
it's possible you might just need to click that, and let the aTV test to see if your TV supports 50hz

I have a cheaper TV that doesn't support 50hz in my bedroom with the 1080 model of aTV (4 or HD), there is an unverified "1080 50hz" item there, when I click it, the TV gets unhappy, after a bit, the aTV comes back and says it doesn't support it, the item remains in the screen.
On the 4K (1st gen) in the living room, I don't have those entries, I think I've clicked them before on that TV though.

no issues with any apps on my 4K ATV on my LG. It supports Dolby vision and I have it set to 60fps with frame and content matching on. The LG has all motion options off (these should be banned). I don’t run all of the apps you mention but I do run 4od And it’s fine. I’ll check and see what it is outputting and get back to you.

Have a go on YouTube App and find some 25FPS/50FPS content or 24FPS content and let me know how you get on with those settings. just enable Stats for nerds to see details.

I'm seeing stutter with content from Mhz Choice that might be the same issue... I don't have any option to enable 50hz, but my TV (US plasma) shows "50p" when playing content. It seems like there are occasional skipped frames even with "match frame rate" on.

AV forums has alot information on the above issues.

Basically until YouTube update the app to support content and frame rate matching.. its a pain for us UK based users.

And being google own YouTube.. that won't be anytime soon !
