Until recently, I could turn the amplifier on without turning the TV, and stream airplay music to my Apple TV 3 which was plugged directly into one of the HDMI inputs on the amp.
If I turned on the TV, the sound input for the amp would switch to 'TV' and play audio through the ARC HDMI connection. I could change the input on the TV to the reciever, and the input of the amp to Apple TV, and then could get video through the Apple TV.
Apple TV 4 has killed this. Now, if I try and turn the Samsung TV on, put the input to the Marantz reciever and then switch to Apple TV on the Marantz, it stays on my chosen input for a few seconds, then goes back to 'TV'. This occurs no matter what input I try and selectthrough the amplifier when the TV is on, it will always switch back to 'TV'. There is nothing playing on the TV though, because the TV input is on the amplifier (which wont change source!)
It is as though there is some kind of conflict between the Samsung and the Apple TV. If I unplug the Apple TV, the Samsung stops addomently switching the amp back to the 'TV' output.
If I turn off HDMI-CEC on the Samsung, it fixes the problem, but I cant use the ARC when watching free to air.
The amplifier is set to 'yes' under control thorugh HDMI (necisary for volume control and ARC to work with the Samsung).
The Apple TV is set to 'control with HDMI' and not set to 'turn on HDMI devices', because I don't want it turning on the TV everytime I Airplay (which then switches it over to the 'TV' input anyway, so I cant play anything!
The Samsung is set to HDMI - CEC turned on, with power off options turned off.
It is driving me crazy, the old system worked so perfectly!
Thanks you
