Hi All,

I just received my new 4K Apple TV. This is replacing a last gen Apple TV in my home entertainment system. I used the HDMI cable that I was using with my old Apple TV. My issue is that I can't remember if I used an HDMI 2.2 cable (capable of 4k HDR). My current video settings in the Apple TV say 4K HDR 60 Hz. Is this because that is what the Apple TV is auto detecting as the highest video quality, or are those default out of the box settings? I am just looking for a way to confirm I have the correct (highest quality) HDMI cable plugged in.

I run 4K60 4:2:2 through cables that are certified to 1.4 aka High Speed.

4K60 is the highest mode it defaults to yeah, although it's worth noting that it defaults to 4:2:0 chroma so you'll want to switch to 4:2:2 if your TV supports it.

Likewise, you'll want to check the dolby vision options on offer if your TV supports that.
