From the recent rumours, apparently later this year. Contemplating whether or not to just get the 5th gen and be done with it.

I think it will be an A14 variant. The A13 chip is good, very good, but like some of the other odd number A-series processors, it seems like a stepping stone and we’ll see the real improvements this year. I suspect Apple will position the next Apple TV to compete with gaming consoles (or maybe “home PCs” i.e. that shared computing device that was ubiquitous in so many family homes before the rise of the smart phone).
The A14 is likely the foundation for the ARM processor that will go into the first-gen ARM Macs so it will have to be beast and able to scale up (A14X or A14Z or who knows what) to compete with Intel’s best.
Releasing an Apple TV that can even come close to the next-gen XBox and Playstation will get the kind of press Apple needs/craves. I can’t see them passing up that opportunity, even if the Apple TV is not as complete of a ”gaming platform”
I am not in a rush, but would eventually like a 4K version. I’ll keep waiting until the end of the year to see what happens unless there is a really good sale.
