I thought that maybe my first ATV 4K was defective, but I am having the same problem with the replacement:

The ATV 4K is running the latest OS version, and is ethernet hard-wired to our home network (via router). Every couple of days or so, the ATV loses Internet/network access ---- the only solution I have found is to reboot the router. This fixes the problem temporarily, but then a day or two later it resurfaces. Even when the ATV loses the access, none of the other devices attached to the router have any problem.

So I was wondering if any of you have any ideas as to what the problem might be --- I figured I'd ask before I box it back up and return it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

There have been reports that the ATV4/4k has issues with DHCP when used with certain router models. DHCP is the protocol that is used to automatically assign IP addresses etc. to the device. The automatically assigned addresses expire after a certain period depending on the router configuration (often 24 or 48 hours) and if the renewal doesn't work properly you'd see the behavior that you described.

You can try configuring a static IP address manually in the ATV network settings and see if that helps. Caution: The address needs to be within the same subnet that you are currently using but outside of the DHCP address pool configured on the router.

Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a try. If anyone is interested, we are using a Netgear Nighthawk X10 for the router.
