I know very little about audio. Is it possible to hook up wired headphones somehow plus keep connected to my pc at the same time? If so how? What do I need please?

Wired headphones are Denon yes and very high quality ones. Not sure if that matters.

Yes I know how do I have high quality headphones then? I was recommended these years ago. So far have done well.

Finally got a Apple TV 4k streaming box and trying to mainly use that with my projector.

I'm not sure I understand the question.

You have a projector, a PC, an Apple TV 4K, and a pair of wired headphones.

If I'm understanding right, you're looking to connect the projector to both the PC and also to the Apple TV to stream content from either of those two devices -- but you're also looking to have all your audio go to the headphones?

The aTV has no audio out port, so the only way to get audio out is over bluetooth or airplay.

if you search for "bluetooth headphone amplifier" you will find boxes that are bluetooth receivers that allow you to plug wired headphones into them. That box will probably have to be connected to power. You could then just use bluetooth to connect that box to either your aTV or PC depending on what you want to listen to. The audio quality may be decreased compared to a direct wired connection.

if your computer is a Mac, you can airplay the audio from the aTV to the Mac. and then leave your headphones plugged into the Mac.

if your computer is windows, I believe you can do the same with a program called AirServer, but I have no experience with that.

You will have a better experience on the aTV using bluetooth instead of airplay.
  • Because of the way airplay works, there is a small delay in the audio. to overcome this, the aTV will start playing the audio a second or so before it starts playing the video. meaning it's actually playing out of sync, but with the airplay delay, the audio and video hits the "real world" in sync with each other. Because of this, any time you start playback or skip to a new part of a video, there will be a small delay before the video starts. while the audio buffers. Different apps on the aTV handle this better than others.
  • with either of the airplay to computer options, you will probably get the system audio from the computer mixed with the audio coming from the aTV, so you could possibly get new mail alerts or other things in the middle of whatever you're watching.

There's no way to do this unless you're using Bluetooth. With such, you could connect to up to two devices (at least with the Bose I have).

Is using Bluetooth an option?
