The remote does use bluetooth, so can be affected by RF interference
it works better "line of sight" so if the aTV is hidden behind the TV, or in a metal cabinet, try moving it
you can probably still get away with behind the TV, it might just have to move a bit.
2.4 wifi is very close in frequency to bluetooth, so if the aTV is right beside your router, you might have issues,
same goes for being by your TV or any other electronics, perhaps it's up against the other devices wifi antenna.
mine is behind the TV, and I occasionally have this problem.
although for me, the touchpad still works, it's just very hard to control and sluggish.
normally I just have to hold menu+volUP, I don't have to get close to the TV, it works from my couch about 10 feet away.
when I first wall mounted the TV, I tucked the aTV inside the metal bracket holding the TV, and I was having this problem frequently, once I moved it, it's been much better.
I have found that tapping at the center of the four edges will work like the old navigation buttons. and can be a little easier to control than swiping
