Hello. This is a problem that has just shown itself within the last few months. My Apple TV 4K feeds my Samsung TV via an HDMI cable. For years, I have always left my Apple TV powered on (I like to leave the Infuse app open and ready to go). This makes things easy to resume a film or show where it was last paused. So, all I used to do is turn off the TV and the Apple TV box was good. Also, the Apple TV maintains its connection to my NAS media server as long as it is powered on.
What I have been seeing, beginning a few months ago, is that whenever I power off the TV, 3-4 seconds later, the Apple TV turns itself off too. I have to manually turn it back on. I am at a loss: is the problem with the TV or the Apple TV? Is it possible that the Samsung is sending a command down the HDMI cable informing the Apple TV that it is powering down? Or is the Apple TV detecting on its own that the Samsung TV has gone away and thus turns itself off?
Any ideas?
