So I have an ATV 4K connected to my TV through my AV receiver. After watching a movie on my blu-ray player I'll turn the system off. But when doing so my Apple TV will turn on. This happens every time. Does anyone else have this issue? My Apple TV and blu-ray player go through my AV receiver with video out to my TV. Last night even my TV came on seemingly by itself while the ATV was still on. To get video from either the ATV or BD player I have to have my receiver turned on and set to the right input. My TV does not have ARC. I've never gotten my setup to be able to turn all on or off by turning on or off either my BD player or ATV.

@bigpoppamac31 You don't need HDMI ARC, your ATV 4K is already connected straight to the AVR. HDMI ARC is to return the audio from the TV to the AVR via HDMI. But you should need HDMI-CEC to automatically turn ON/OFF the ATV or TV from one place or another. In all the ATV 4K, AVR and TV (the ATV 4K has it, but it must have it enabled, which is the default). I am not sure if the HDMI passthrough in the AVR allows HDMI-CEC to be used between the ATV 4K and the Tv as well.

I don't know why your ATV 4K turns on, though. But if the automatic power on via HDMI-CEC doesn't work, you may consider to disable HDMI-CEC in the ATV 4K. Maybe not having compatible devices attached (the AVR) it interferes with something.

This note from Apple explains how to turn HDMI CEC on and off in the ATV, among other stuff.
