Trying to verify this all morning. Best Buy is not stocking it, and Apple's own site states 10/20/17 availability. I called and spoke with my local Apple store who told me that they are not available this month as well.

i was considering it for $20 difference but...

since we can't save 4k videos, how much space do 1080p videos take up?

I ran to Best Buy first thing this morning and they had a single 32GB ATV4k and no 64GBs. I pre ordered a 32GB I got yesterday, but like others figured I'd jump up just in case. I have 4 ATV4s and I use next to none of the storage, so I'm hoping I can stick with the 32GB. I wish Apple would provide more insight on how and what the ATVs store locally. Obviously apps and app data, but what else?

And could they provide an area that shows how much you have left? Best i can find there is only the Manage Storage option that just shows you what's installed and how much it uses, but not the total used for all.

Videos are not stored in the ATV, they are streamed. If you buy iTunes content, that just gives you “permission” to stream it. When you play it, it streams from apple’s server.

Main reason for 64 GB would be if you are into gaming. 32 or 64 GB is dependent on how many apps (channels are apps) you will use.

No, it's not. Don;t post this when others have the 64GB version.

It doesn't matter how much space they take up. The storage (32GB or 64GB) on Apple TV is only used for Apps and cache. The apps don't even take up much space either, which is why I find the 32GB to be perfectly acceptable.

I did say possibly. I checked dozens of Apple stores online as well as no single Best Buy has it in stock. There isn't a store in hundreds of miles near me that does. And no store online sells it, bhphoto, target, no one.

I did in store pickup on the 64 gb at a local Apple store. Just returned with it. They had some but were quickly sold out. I saw an employee bringing out several of the 32 gb 4K model.

I spent all morning buying up all the 64gb Apple TV's within a 200 mile radius of your house.
Sorry.
But then I threw them all away. I'm holding out for when the 128gb model is in stock.
