I got an Apple Tv to use with my iPad. I travel a lot and thought of a solution in store that I am not sure if it'll work.

1. Desktop at home acts as server.
2. Video files stored on external hard drive connected to desktop
3.I know air video already can see these movies
4. Apple TV and iPad in hotel across the country.
5. Connect both to hotel/4g tether wifi
6. Stream air video from server to iPad to TV?

Also, is there any way to wirelessly mirror or do I have to wait until iOS 5?

Thanks in Advance!

Appletv has to connect to your network at home. If you can get it connect, and see your iTunes on your home desktop, you are good to go. I have jot been able to do this.

No, I think what the OP suggests can potentially work, assuming both the ATV and ipad connect to the same hotel wifi hotspot and the hotspot doesn't have the Airplay ports blocked. However I think this is likely. If you are using your own hotspot or mifi device, you can definitely do what you wish.

Wouldn't it be a lot easier to get the video out cable from the ipad to play directly to your TV and eliminate the ATV altogether?
