For a while now I’ve noticed that the BBC IPlayer doesn’t sync episode playback information with the Apple TV app.

This is the same across my devices (iPhone 11 Pro / iPad Pro / Apple TV4K).
For example, if I start watching an IPlayer programme (either via the Apple TV app or the IPlayer app), the programme will appear in my Up Next section, but will not remember where the programme was watched until nor will it then add a completed episode to the recently watched section of the Apple TV app.

I up to date on tvOS / iOS and apps and the iplayer is checked as a connected app.

Any idea on how to fix this?

Thanks

I’m having this issue too. Noticed it after I updated my Apple TV to tvOS 14. Not sure if that’s related or not. Have you updated your devices yet? Other “connected apps” are still updating the TV app without issue. It’s just BBC iPlayer that isn’t updating.

It’s just the IPlayer app. It’s any issue on all my devices, iPad, Apple TV, iPhone.

Before I updated to iOS 14 and tvOS 14, IPlayer would work fine in the ‘up next’ section but would not show in ‘recently watched’.

Now I have both issues.

Tried reconnecting the app but doesn’t seem to solve anything.

Is anyone experiencing issues with iPlayer on Apple TV currently, where you open it and none of your 'in progress' shows appear?

Occasionally yes, closing the app sometimes works to refresh ot scrolling to channels , waiting and then returning to the Home screen.
