Apple TV as a DVR? With some tweaks

I am sure this has been discussed ad nauseam, but I am trying to get HD content off my DVR and onto my Apple TV. I have found this site

that seems like it could sorta work. Doesn't really give any option as to how to get it from the laptop to the Apple TV, but I will be working on that.

I have found www.irecord.com and wondered if anyone had played around with it.

iRecord does not do HD. It can do only SD. Look at their FAQ for the H.264 output specs. Pretty bad.
