Netflix, Hulu all the apps seem to work perfectly, but I can't get it to see my iMac. I've been using this setup for a couple of years now at least to stream movies to various TV's in the house.

I'm not sure if its the latest OS on the ATV or the "new" iTunes 12.0.1.26 that is the issue. Either way I have my mac set to never sleep and wake for network access also set to on, but all my ATV's show when I go to computer is " "

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I searched around and couldn't seem to find a thread dealing with the ATV not showing the library.

Thanks,

Heath

Only thing I've had issues with is I keep my iTunes open, I also don't let it go into sleep mode. I'm running 2 different routers in my house and sometimes it likes to connect to the one the Apple TV isn't on. So I have to go change it back once in a while. Just some things to check. I'm by far no expert maybe someone else can chime in.

I encounter this issue quite often and 80% of the time restarting iTunes on your Mac does the trick. Other times, I need to manually wake up the Mac and very rarely a complete reboot of the ATV is required.

Thanks for the tips! I tried rebooting the ATV, that is usually the first thing I try. I'll head downstairs and try shutting down iTunes and then reopening it.

Go to System Preferences and under Sharing, change the name of your computer. This worked for me.

They're working now.

This is one of the things I did, I just did it because I didn't like the (2) behind it, I didn't know it might fix this issue though...

Thanks, maybe that was it!

I have the same problem. For years the system worked pretty good, but after the latest batch of upgrades the Apple TV has trouble finding the computer. Can't find the library. After restarting computer, router, and Apple TV it worked again. Watched some tv shows I have in iTunes and after that shut off the Apple TV. The next day, same problem. Got it working again after an half an hour fiddling with everything. Now I keep the Apple TV always on, it never sleeps, and now it works as it should be.

iTunes won't recognize my original ATV

I have a similar problem but the opposite direction. I have an original ATV and now iTunes won't recognize it so I can update the photos. I use the ATV for viewing photos and streaming music and home videos and not for watching TV or movies. Did the new iTunes stop supporting original ATV's and I missed that?

I hope not because I have one of those too, just on a TV thats not used very often...

This worked for me. Somehow my computer name was changed from JamesiMac to iMac. I just put the James in front of it and all is well. Thanks for the post. This was driving me nuts for days!

After banging my head against the wall, checking and re-checking to make sure that Home Sharing was turned on, rebooting everything multiple times, nothing worked. Until I went into iTunes and accessed the iTunes store instead of just looking at my music library, which seemed to wake up my account and alert iTunes to the fact that I was there. The minute I did that, Apple TV started accessing all my music.
