Sofia Coppola's upcoming Apple TV+ comedy "On the Rocks" will premiere at next month's 58th New York Film Festival, according to Variety.

"On the Rocks" stars Rashida Jones, Bill Murray, and Marlon Wayans, and tells the story of Laura, a young mother in New York faced with sudden doubts about her marriage.

Laura teams up with her impulsive father Felix, who insists they investigate the situation, leading to an adventure across the city and a generational clash about how people see relationships differently from their parents.

Coppola and Murray last collaborated on 2003's "Lost in Translation," which won Coppola an Academy Award for original screenplay and earned Murray an Oscar nomination for Best Actor.

The festival runs from September 17 through October 11, and the movie will be included in the spotlight lineup, which showcases sneak previews, gala events, screenings with live elements, and other special evenings.

"On the Rocks" hails from independent studio A24 and will debut on Apple TV+ in October.

My god, something I might acutally try to watch?? Lost In Translation is one of my favourite films ever, so i'm partially interested in another Coppola and Murray collab.

Macrumours if you want to peak much more interest in Apple TV then investigate that new sci fi series in production. That’s going to be the biggie. I may even hop down to Manchester and see if I can grab some behind the scenes as apparently they’re filming there. Might get you a scoop ;)

Sofia Coppola is uninspired. This totally looks like a slightly different version of Lost in Translation with Bill Murray in the same role. My guess is it's gonna flop.

She’s had some really fantastic output over the last few years. This also looks excellent! To say she is a stagnant and uninspired filmmaker is IMO a reach.

Nice to see Bill in action again, looking forward to checking this out!

Does anyone know that first song they're playing ? I recognize the melody but can't remember what it's from.

edit: nvm, finally remembered what it was:

originally from Mozart's Don Giovanni

The brilliant “A Very Murray Christmas” was their last collaboration in 2015. It‘s great, especially at that festive time of year.

Lost in Translation is one of my favorite movies and was the beginning of my journey to explore other cultures and languages. I’m watching the hell out of this, super excited to see these 2 working together again:)

I will give it a try. My wife bought the MacBook Air and somehow iTunes knew that and offered me a free year of Apple TV Plus! Used it to watch the Beastie Boys documentary and Greyhound. And since I was in bed because of a fly, yeah really the regular one thanks god, I tried out The Morning Show and finished it on the second day! What a blast! Totally didn't expect that! I thought it would be something lame and boring but man, this is the talented Mr. Ripley meeting Wait Until Dark. I mean less crime but boy the plot is great and tense. I could not stop watching! Things turn so quickly, pokerfaces, backstabbing, what are they going to do next, no don't do this, and so on. What a surprise! :D

Seems to me that Bill is beginning to show his age, and that sucks... because he is only 5 years older than me!

Liklihood of me not watching this is roughly 0%

Anything with Bill Murray in it is worthy of my time.

Overall I'm continuing to enjoy Apple TV+ and think it has a bright future. Maybe not for world domination but in terms of high quality content it's doing well so far. Yes I'm aware that someone is now reaching for their keyboard to quickly tell why it sucks, but I don't care. I like it.
