Apple TV+ today announced a straight-to-series order for "Jane," a new family-friendly live action/CGI blended series from Emmy Award winner J.J. Johnson, Sinking Ship Entertainment, and the Jane Goodall Institute.

Apple says "Jane" follows Jane Garcia, a 10-year-old girl with an active imagination:
Through pretend play, Jane and her trusty teammates work to protect an endangered animal in each mission-driven episode because, according to her idol: "Only if we understand, will we care. Only if we care, will we help. Only if we help, can they be saved."
"Jane" is created and executive produced by company partner J.J. Johnson, with the Jane Goodall Institute also serving as executive producers. It will be the second Apple TV+ series produced by Sinking Ship Entertainment, joining "Ghostwriter," which received a Daytime Emmy Award last year and is now in its second season.

A release date has yet to be announced for the series.

You know what would really interest me?

A family-unfriendly series inspired by Dr. Jane Goodall.

How freaky would that be?

Well, didn’t she find out about the total brutality and extreme tribal behavior of chimpanzees?

For the most part, I've liked a decent number of options on Apple TV+. What I hate the most is the user interface. It's always frustrating to find what's new and interesting. I wish that all these different streaming services would adopt a similar format. It's difficult and frustrating to move between them.

I hate, hate, HATE the Apple TV+ interface on the ATV. It’s why I won’t be renewing, because while some of the shows are good, and Ted Lasso is great, I won’t pay for being put through the hellscape of ATV+UI.

I think the newest version with the separate TV+ tab is actually pretty good. It is finally easy to know what is TV+ content. Took forever. I think the UI for almost every streaming service sucks, and I cannot figure why they are all so bad. I like the unified search that the TV app offers, but it is still confusing.

Ghostwriter is an excellent series, and has pretty good CGI. So, this should be worth a family-friendly watch.
I enjoy Ghostwriter and think they did a great job with the characters. They have a super diverse cast of kids and they got them together in a way that does not make it seem like they were picked for the perfect ethnic/gender balance (they clearly were, but they way they come together feels organic). They also pass the other high bar for kids shows which is that the kids are not stupid. They may not know as much as adults, but they make decisions that make sense for kids. The kids in too many kids shows just act like stupid adults (clearly the writers forgot what it was like being a kid).

This reminds me of a novel I read when I was a child, called “The White Giraffe.” I’ll bet that it’ll be a fine family show.

There is some creepy corporate theme across all Apple TV+ offerings, they seem all stick to specific standard or outcome I just can't put my finger on it. Apple TV+ feels more like a product made by accountants than art by movie makers.

Sounds bloody awful. Why does every Apple TV series have to have a 'message' - just give us entertainment that'll be talked about and hopefully make people engage with the service! It's tiring seeing them commit to so much flop material.
