Apple TV grey screen issue

Hi, I've been happily using my Apple TV 3rd gen with an Onkyo av receiver ht-r558 and TV.

However I have just changed my TV and this has caused the Apple TV to flicker to a picklated grey screen -

I have a Sky hd box and blu ray player connected to the Onkoyo receiver and both are fine still with the new TV.

I've connected the Apple TV directly to the TV and it is fine. I have tested each cable in the chain with this method and they are also fine.

Any more ideas what this could be?

I have turned off hdmi-cec on the TV.

Like I said, it's been working fine with my old TV.
