Apple TV into iMac 21.5 . Using iMac as Display

I am wondering if I can connect the Apple TV to the new 21.5 inch iMac. I would do it like this. Apple TV HDMI -> female hdmi/male minidisplay port -> thunderbolt port on iMac . I would like to use the iMac as a display but im not sure how I would do this.

AFAIK, you can only use target display mode from another thunderbolt enabled Apple computer, so I don't think this will work.

I'm confused why you want to do this.You want to basically stream iTunes content from an AppleTV to your iMac when your iMac already has iTunes on it (and probably all the content you want streaming through your AppleTV)?
