Apple tv mirroring not working

Hi,

I have a macbook pro late 2011 on OS Sierra and an apple TV 3. When I try mirroring I get a black screen and no sound. It works fine mirroring my iphone 7. Does anyone know what the problem is here?

On your MacBook, make sure you've selected the correct device for where you want to AirPlay. If you have more than one ATV or an Airport Express, it might be AirPlaying to one of them that's not intended. Or not at all and just defaulting to your MacBook.
