I’ve just switched from a 1st gen iPad Pro to the new air (i5). So far it’s great but I have noticed the films and series I purchased through iTunes and watch through the TV app don’t play as smooth compared to the iPad. It definitely isn’t a hardware bottleneck as the air does not get hot and CPU utilisation is really really low. I’m not saying it’s not watchable but definitely not as smooth. Also with subtitles in there is the odd flicker on the screen. Any thoughts from anyone? Is it likely a software Issue in MacOS?

Have you checked playback settings in the Apple TV app?

Is streaming set to best available?

If it is could be a Mac OS bug on the MacBook Air

Don't have that problem on my 2016 MacBook Pro 13 inch.

Ok. Only on full screen with subtitles. In a window or without subtitles it is ok Via streaming. Even if I download it and playback full screen it is perfect.

Sounds like a software bug since it's only happening when subtitles are turned on.
