Apple today released a trailer for a new family-friendly animated film coming to Apple TV+ this year called "Wolfwalkers."

Apple acquired the rights to the film back in 2018, and it comes from the creators and director of "The Secret of Kells" and "Song of the Sea."

The film is described as an adventure film about a young apprentice named Robyn who travels with her father to Ireland to help wipe out a pack of wolves. However, once they arrive Robyn discovers a girl who has the ability to transform into a wolf at night, and begins to question if they should continue on their mission.

"Wolfwalkers" stars Honor Kneafsey as Robyn, Sean Bean as her father Bill, and Eva Whittaker as Mebh. A specific release date wasn't given for the film's release, but in the Apple TV app it is marked as coming sometime in 2020.

does she have hairs on her palms?
every night, or just those with a full moon?
are these...wolves..in conflict with vampires?

How long before Sean Bean Gets it?

Looks great! I hope it’s not too scary for the littles, but if it’s being described as family friendly I’d guess it’ll be okay. Looking forward to it!

This looks really good. I expect this to be a solid family animated movie. Apple's TV+ movies have been flawless thus far.

Looks like a nice film, but no announcement of the Blu Ray/UHD release date is a bit disappointing. I am sure it'll eventually get a proper release.

I highly highly doubt this ever comes out on Blu-ray/UHD. This is an Apple TV+ exclusive. They bought the rights to it - like how Netflix movies don't come out on Bluray/UHD.

This looks like a real movie, not a Netflix movie. I would still expect a proper release even if we are forgoing cinema for waisting some time on Apple TV+. At the very least they can shove it on the iTunes Store for £13.99.

Do you also expect a DVD/Blu-ray/$13.99 iTunes release of Greyhound or The Banker? Both of those are "real movies" and are Apple TV+ exclusives. Apple is aggressively buying up the rights to big tentpole movies and locking them within the TV+ ecosystem as a way of drawing viewers to the platform. It would completely defeat Apple's purpose to release them in alternative channels (besides movie theaters of course, for award ceremony eligibility).

I love stories and tales like this, especially when the artistic drawings are not too overdone or too refined with edges and colouring. I don't need my eyes to POP every second of my life and this soft like drawing allows for a great kids late night story to watch huddled in the family room.

I was worried stories like this would be gone forever.

> who am I kidding ... I'll be watching this, my son is grown already. lol.

Never heard of Greyhound or The Banker. If Apple want to put real movies on their streaming service that is all well and good for them, but surely there is no issue with them also releasing on iTunes if not on physical formats. How else are people going to see the movie?

Would you rather pay $4.99 to watch the movie (through TV+) or $13.99 through iTunes? To me it's a no brainer. I'm sorry you haven't heard of Greyhound or The Banker. Apple paid $70 Million for the rights to stream Greyhound exclusively on TV+ and is a major motion picture starring Tom Hanks (surely you've heard of him). Apple didn't pay for the exclusive film rights only to later drop the movie on the Blu-Ray shelf. I'm really not getting your confusion about this.

$13.99+ through iTunes any day. I am not supporting another streaming platform even with the 12 months free they are notifying me on my phone(I miss when Apple devices were ad-free). And I have probably heard of Tom Hanks but it will have slipped my mind, I tend not to watch American movies. But this movie, aye, I'd pay for it on iTunes and enjoyed the previous movies. You're also missing that if you want to watch it again, is that $4.99 justifiable for one movie? $179.64 for one movie over three years if I want to keep it accessible.

My Kids love watching Òran na Mara (Song of the Sea).
I've got the Irish Gaelic version of it with English subtitles to force them to practice both reading English and picking up Gaelic (it's in Donegal Gaelic which is almost the same as Scots Gaelic).
There's not enough Celtic folklore in films and TV and there's an enormous amount of traditional folk tales to be told from Celtic folklore. Much of which is shared between the Scots and Irish.
