apple tv remote affects my macbook

hello,
when i purchased my apple tv and used the remote that came with it, it also affects my macbook, is there a way to disconnect the remote from the mac?

System preferences> Security> Disable remote control infrared receiver (under general tab)

not sure if you've tried it but you should use the remote app on your iphone...then you can pick your library (apple tv or macbook) and control it with that

i would suggest that if you are at home just using the remote for os x mobile

This will work. Or, you can pair the remote with your AppleTV. Then it will stop affecting the MacBook.
