The award-winning Apple TV+ sci-fi series "Silo" is finally back, after nearly a year-and-a-half wait. The first episode of the second season is now available on Apple's streaming service, and one new episode will follow every Friday through January 17.

"Silo" follows the last 10,000 people on Earth, all of whom live in a massive underground bunker to escape the seemingly toxic and deadly world outside. The people are unaware of why the silo was built, and those who seek the truth face deadly consequences. Rebecca Ferguson stars as Juliette Nichols, an engineer who attempts to unravel the mysteries surrounding the silo following a loved one's murder. The sci-fi series is based on Hugh Howey's best-selling book trilogy "Wool." Ferguson and Howey both serve as executive producers.

The official PlayStation account on YouTube recently shared an exclusive clip from the second season of the show. And earlier this week, Apple shared a season-one recap video highlighting key moments in the series so far. Warning: spoilers!

Apple TV+ costs $9.99 per month or $99 per year in the U.S., and the streaming service is also included in all Apple One subscription bundles.

I liked the show, and the twist on the typical post-apocalyptic genre garbage out there. However, the star, Rebecca Ferguson, is utterly unconvincing as a badass. She's too small, thin and petite for the role. Should have gone to Kate Beckinsdale, or Mila Jovovich (I guess they wanted someone younger), or Gal Gadot. Yeah, Gal Gadot, no matter how much they had to pay her!
Interesting perspective. I think the show is awesome, and can’t wait for the season to be completely available. Personally, I’m glad they haven’t used a typecast actor like the ones you mentioned. Interesting that you think she doesn’t have the right body shape for the role. I thought we had moved on from that.

You also get a free offer for 3 months of Apple TV+ with purchase of a new Mac. (Maybe new iPhone too).

Psst!

You don't have to buy anything to get 3 months free.

I actually think Rebecca is great and would prefer her than anyone of the ones you mentioned (by far)

I don't hate her acting, in fact I like it. Just too small and skinny to play a strongwoman. That's all.
Didn’t she play a “badass” in Mission Impossible? I think she’s rather badass personally. None of the physical scenes she did in season 1 felt overly unbelievable. I’ve seen many women of her stature have surprising physical strength, which makes them all the more badass.

Decent enough show but as usually is the case does not live up to the original books. I read the complete series back when they were released through Amazon Kindle and found them very compelling and enjoyable.

Similar to Andy Weir's "The Martian". The movie was entertaining enough but the book was probably the best true science fiction piece ever written. At least until he wrote "Project Hail Mary".

I couldn’t disagree more.

I know what you mean, and I don't think you're a misogynist. Ideally, it should not strain credulity so much that it bumps us out of the movie. Still, I've seen much worse, so while we're suspending disbelief about a post-apocalyptic hellscape where there's no provision for repairing the generator even though everything else for survival was covered, I'm willing to find the generosity to extend that to the actor's physique, at least in this case.

Edit: I was trying to remember a much worse example. It was so long ago, but I found it! Bridget Fonda in Point of No Return (1993) is the worst casting decision I have ever seen for a "tough girl" role, where she faces off against much bigger men in a variety of situations, including a boxing ring. The trailer alone used to drive me batty - "What do you do when you're most uncomfortable?". Reply from the emaciated, young lady, "I hit". Nope. No you don't.

Gal Gadot? absolutely not (IMO).

idk I’m the kind of person where it’s hard for me to picture someone else in a role more than the actor(s) that are already playing the role.

so to me, Rebecca is doing a great job. I loved her in Doctor Sleep and Dune so I’m not surprised I like her character in this.

I started watching this show because I was watching the Mission Impossible movies and liked her in that.

She’s not supposed to be a bad-ass, though. She’s an engineer/techie type who reluctantly becomes a politician and then a reluctant rebel/hero.

(For the record, I’m a big fan of the novels, so-so on the show)
