Apple TV+ has announced that the second season of its sci-fi show "Silo" will premiere on Friday, November 15, 2024.

"Silo" follows the last ten thousand people on Earth who live in a massive underground bunker to escape the toxic environment above. The inhabitants are unaware of why the silo was built, and those who seek the truth face deadly consequences. Rebecca Ferguson stars as Juliette, an engineer who uncovers deeper mysteries while investigating a loved one's murder. The second season will continue to explore the storylines from the first season, with new twists and revelations.

The first season of "Silo" premiered on May 5, 2023, and production for the second season was delayed due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes. Based on the Wool trilogy by Hugh Howey, the new season will feature ten episodes, releasing weekly until January 17, 2025.

The announcement was made at Comic-Con 2024 (via Deadline), where it was also revealed that Steve Zahn will join the cast. Zahn made a surprise appearance at the fan panel alongside creator and showrunner Graham Yost, author and executive producer Hugh Howey, executive producer Rebecca Ferguson, and star Common. In addition to Zahn, the returning cast includes Tim Robbins, Harriet Walter, Chinaza Uche, Avi Nash, Alexandria Riley, Shane McCrae, Remmie Milner, Clare Perkins, Billy Postlethwaite, Rick Gomez, Caitlin Zoz, Tanya Moodie, and Iain Glen.

Very cool. Really enjoyed the first season. I bought the books and have been wavering on if I should read them and to what point. I've been told the deviates a bit from the books more like the "same" story but told from a different perspective.

So it's a hologram, or an experiment, they are in a spaceship and are lied to to keep society cohesive during a thousand year voyage in a world where hyper sleep doesn't exist. There will be some twist. I guess I actually want to know now, I've talked myself into looking forward to this..

The show is from the Silo book trilogy, Wool, Shift and Dust, if you are curious. Like most things, the books are better, though the show was pretty good.

Couldn't make it through “Monarch”, Starting the new series “time bandits“, hopefully they won’t ruin that series.

It's not going to be like the books.

I watched season 1, then read the books. They're likely to greatly deviate from the books. I'll not be more specific because spoilers.
Thanks I appreciate that.

So for full disclosure I read the books about 9 or 10 years ago. I started just before Dust was released and timed it almost perfectly to finish Shift and start Dust at its release date. So there was not really any downtime between books.

I did watch the first episode of season one. It brought back some nostalgic memories of the books but I also forgot some things. I decided to stop watching and go back and read the books again. That has not gone as planned since I've been reading other things. I guess its good to know they are different and maybe I will just watch them and appreciate them for what they are. I am usually disappointed in books turned to movies or series.

TLDR; I read the books first, decided to re-read them before watching the series. Might just watch and not re-read after all. 😂
