Apple TV to MacBook

I don't know if this falls under this section or not, but I will shoot my question anyways.

I have an Apple TV and I purchased a movie on it. For some reason I can't sync it to my laptop (MacBook). Is there any way or step by step order to do this? I just want to be able to have the movie on my laptop, does this mean I have to repurchase it which would make no sense or what?
