Apple tv turns on my imac monitor

When i play movies through air stream on apple tv it turns my imac monitor on. Does anyone know why it does this and if here is anyway to keep it off.

On the iMac, open the Security pref pane within the System Preferences application. Check the "Disable remote control infrared receiver" box. Your Apple TV should no longer interfere with your iMac.
